Obligatory DC snowgasm post, live from Park View!

Yesterday I went out and did some shoveling/took some pictures of the end of the world, live and already in progress! It very much felt like digging trenches. Here are a few select shots.

That's knee deep, friends.

Park Place.

Out of boredom, I dug a trench from yonder bush to the corner.

And finally, the snow bunny Elijah made out front.

Finally, for some perspective on the snow, Kent at the Park View blog has some footage of the Knickerbocker Storm of 1922, which of course destroyed the Knickerbocker Theater in my old neighborhood.

Obligatory panda post by yet another DC resident (2)

It seems as though Butterstick should change his name to Buttertub. He's turning out to be a little chunkster! I saw him on Thursday with the parentals, and he was taking an angsty teenager nap, conveniently situated beside the new Asia Trail at the Zoo. Observe (and click for bigger):

Isn't that just a bundle full of precious?

Now back to job hunting and/or reading the Onion.

Obligatory cherry blossom post by yet another DC resident

As promised, pics from my sunset cherry blossoming adventure. Be advised that I'm no photographer, and that these may well suck. Anyway, enjoy at your leisure.

We begin with tulip magnolias outside the Sackler Gallery.

Stalking Washington.

Blossoms overhead.

Stalking Jefferson.

Cascade in the Fourth Room, FDR Memorial.

Four Freedoms, Night.

Should you desire further torture, check out my photobucket.

obligatory panda post by yet another DC resident

This past Monday, the boy and I made the obligatory pilgrimage to the National Zoo (which happens to be in my backyard) to see the one and only Butterstick, aka Tai Shan, aka the world's cutest panda cub.

However, Butterstick was napping under a log, and all you could see was his backside. His parents were out though, and were precious in their own right. Due to the extreme heat that day, both were in search of shade. Here are photos:

Butterstick's daddy (who lives in a separate abode)

Butterstick's mom (after having practiced for World Cup soccer in her pool)

And finally, some Butterstick butt (the fuzzy thing in the middle)

I hope you enjoyed the cuteness as much as I did. :)
